David Gutierrez is currently a doctoral fellow in the Convergent Behavioral Science Initiative at The University of Virginia. David is committed to helping transform our socio-technical systems into more sustainable and harmonic ones. Thus, his research aims to inform engineering and management through behavioral science to contribute to the solution of complex problems. He is currently interested in identifying and understanding how to overcome the social constraints for sustainable construction, and also in exploring the ethical dimension of sustainable development and its implications for individuals and their education.
David has a B. in Civil Engineering and an MBA from the Universidad Industrial de Santander, Colombia. He has professional experience as a designer, project manager, consultant, and as a director and co-founder of a design and construction company. Before joining CBSI, he was a full professor at the Civil Engineering department of the Universidad Santo Tomás, in the areas of project management, leadership, and competitiveness, while leading the department’s social responsibility and outreach activities.
